창세기 8장 601년 2월 27일은 노아가 방주에서 나온 날

창세기 8장은 비 온 뒤 방주가 아라랏 산에 정착한 후 노아가 땅이 말랐는지 까마귀와 비둘기를 날려 보내고 하나님이 방주에 갇힌 생명체를 내보내며 다시 번성하라고 명하는 내용이 나옵니다. 정확하게는 601년 2월 27일 노아의 후손들에 의해 새롭게 번성하라는 거죠.

 

 

 

 

비가 그친 후 아라랏산에 정착

 

창세기 8장 1절~ 5절

 

1. But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided.

 

subside: 가라앉다, 진정되다, 빠지다, 내려앉다.

 

2. The fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were closed, the rain from the heavens was restrained,

3. and the waters receded from the earth continually. At the end of 150 days the waters had abated, 

 

4. and in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

5. And the waters contimued to abate until the tenth month; in the tops of the mountains were seen.

 

그렇게 150일 후에 물이 잦아들고 일곱째 달 그 달 17일에 방주가 아라랏 산에 안착했다고 합니다. 그리고 물은 열째 달까지 계속 잦아들면서 산꼭대기가 보이게 됩니다. 

 

 

 숫자 17의 의미

 

 

 

비가 그치고 아라랏 산에 정주한 노아 일행도 일행이지만 그보다 앞서 성경에서 왜 시작과 끝을 17로 정했는지에 대해 의구심이 듭니다. 17에 특별한 의미가 있다고 보이지 않으면서 어떤 글에는 땅이 4고 하늘이 3이고 어쩌고저쩌고 해서 17이란 오묘한 진리가 있다는 등 얘기하지만요. 그냥 7일 동안 세상을 창조하면서 7번째 달 17 일 등을 연결 지으려고 한 건가 싶기도 합니다. 

 

한편, 주역에서 17에 해당하는 괘 택뢰수는 연못 아래 천둥 번개가 있는 형상으로 마치 연못 아래 용이 웅크리고 있는 괘상이라고 합니다. 뭔가 물과 연관이 있고 택뢰수의 수는 뒤따르다, 순종하다를 의미하는 괘인데다 마치 백두산 천지 비슷한 것이 떠올라서 나름 연관이 있지 않나 하는 생각이 들었습니다.

6. At the end of forty days Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made

7. and sent forth a raven. It went to and fro until the waters were dried up from the earth.

 

 

비가 제대로 그쳤는지 어떤지 상태를 보기 위해 노아는 자신이 만든 창문을 연 후 까마귀를 날려 보냅니다. 까마귀가 crow만 있는 줄 알았는데 raven도 있어서 찾아 봤습니다. 그랬더니 crow는 보다 무리를 지으며 보다 사회성이 있는 편이고 raven은 crow보다 더 무겁고 부리는 더 두껍고 털이 덥수룩하며 약간 더 음침하고 은둔형인가 봅니다. 딱 봐도 raven이 더 멋있고 사나워 보이네요. 성경에는 raven을 갈까마귀로 해석하고 있는데요. 이는 사실과 다르다고 합니다. 갈은 까맣다는 의미이고 한국에선 작은 종으로 분류한 것 같은데 실제 raven은 crow보다 색이 옅고 작지 않은 것 같네요. crow가 갈까마귀가 맞는 게 아닌가 싶습니다. 

 

 

 

 비둘기를 날려 보내니

 

8. Then he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the whole earth.

9. But the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him.

10. He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark.

11. And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth.

 

 

창세기 8장 8절에서 11절은 비둘기를 날려 보내니 아직 물이 차 있어서 돌아오고 7일 뒤 다시 비둘기를 날려 보내니 비둘기가 신선한 올리브 잎을 입에 물고 왔다는 내용입니다.

 

 

 

 

 

12. Then he waited another seven days and sent forth the dove, and she did not return to him any more.

 

그래서 그는 또 일주일을 기다렸다가 비둘기를 날려 보냈더니 이번에는 돌아오지 않았다고 합니다.

 

 육백일년 2월 1일 물이 마르다

 

13. In the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried from off the earth.

 

노아의 600세 나이 이후 약 1년 동안 홍수에 시달린 후 601년 2월 1일 드디어 물이 마른다는 내용입니다. 

 

14. In the second month, on the twenty- seventh day of the month, the earth had dried out.

15. Then God said to Noah,

16. " Go out from the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons' wives with you.

 

 

 지구 인생 2막 1장 시작

 

 

 

17. Bring out with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh-birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth- that they may swam on the earth, and be fruitiful and multiply on the earth."

18. So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him.

19. Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves the earth, went out by families from the ark.

 

20. Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

 인간이 악하다는 것인지 젊을 때 악하다는 것인지

 

21. And when the Lord smelt the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, " I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man's heart is evil from his youth.

 

기독교인은 창세기 8장 21절을 두고 악한 인간임에도 불구하고 하나님의 자비와 은혜를 베푼 구절이라고 풀이하는 것 같습니다. 앞서 20절은 노아가 방주에서 나온 기념으로 제단에 제를 올렸고 하나님이 향기로운 냄새를 맡으시고 나는 이제 다시는 땅에 저주를 내리지 않을 거다. 왜냐하면 인간이 젊을 때부터 악하다는 것 혹은 악한 의도가 강하다는 것을 알기 때문이다 라고 나옵니다. 이는 혈기방창한 젊은 청년들이 악하다는 것인지 인간 자체가 악하다는 것인지 모호합니다. 개인적으로 창조주는 나이 많은 노인들을 젊은 청년보다 더 신뢰하시는 것 같다는 생각이 들기도 합니다. 

 

 

 

 땅이 남아있는 동안

 

22. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease."

 

땅이 남아있는 동안 시간을 멈추지 않겠다고 창조주는 노아에게 말하며 8장은 끝이 납니다. 그러니까 대홍수 같은 것은 만들지 않겠다는 것이겠죠?

 

 

창세기 8장 14절 그다음 달 27일 그러니까 2월 27일에 땅이 마르자 하나님에 노아에게 말합니다. 그러니까 지구 인생 2막이 시작되는 거죠. 창조주가 아담 창조 후 악으로 뒤덮인 세상을 아주 깨끗하고 고결한 생명체를 추려서 땅 위에 다시 번성하게끔 명령합니다. 그렇게 8장이 마무리됩니다.
